Success and Failure Depends On Your Stress Management Lesson Plan

Stress has been there since time immemorial in all aspects of our lives. In the last one-and-half decades however, stress at work has reached unprecedented heights in importance and recognition.

It is not very easy to have an effective stress management lesson plan in place at the office because there are so many facets to choose from. The best possible solution would be to have some of the employees trained in the concepts of de-stressing and then have regular training programs for all the employees after the programs are tweaked to suit the organization’s needs,

What Are the Main Aspects That Influence the Stress Management Lesson Plan in the Workplace?

1. The environment - First of all in order to have a good impact, the stress management lesson plan should take place where the environment is conducive for it. It would not do at all to carry out a de-stressing exercise in places which add to the stress automatically.

2. Demand of work vs. capacity to deliver – There should be a good balance between the amount of work one has and the demand that exists. For example, can the employee go home at the closing time, or does he/she have to work overtime on a regular basis? If the work demand is higher, it will create a very unhealthy atmosphere which would create work burn-out sooner or later.

3. Work/family balance – this is one of the main aspects that create stress in the minds of he employee. A good stress management lesson plan would be able to help both the employee and employer find workable solutions for balancing the time and attention spent at work vs. time and attention spent at home. There should be a reasonable balance between these two aspects.

4. Eliminate as much as possible fixed routine work – Good stress management lesson plan found that if routine work is eliminated or minimized, stress levels too are minimized. Often, the routine work, such as answering phone calls, checking and replying to emails, daily correspondence eat into the effective on-the-job time. This results into stress when the tasks at hand cannot be completed in the specified time.

5. A good stress management lesson plan will have de-stress rooms or space where employees would be encouraged to let their hair down and relax. This could be by having a cup of coffee, having a short break just to relax for a few minutes, or listen to music, etc. This is very important as this is one of the few things that totally eliminate anger from stress.
